7 Vegan "Bacons" You Can Make at Home

July 21, 2016

Many believe that necessity is the mother of invention—and take this to be the explanation for the wide range of extremely creative and resourceful vegan foods.

With no dairy or eggs to work with, vegans get crafty with what's available, turning bananas into ice cream, cashews into cheese (and cheesecake), avocados into chocolate cake, and chickpea liquid into mousse and mozzarella.

Aphorisms and noun family trees aside, these 7 vegan "bacon" recipes most certainly demonstrate innovation. Turn to them when real bacon isn't an option, when store-bought alternatives are puzzling, or when you're looking for something smoky and savory (meat-free or not!).

I used to work at Food52. I'm probably the person who picked all of the cookie dough out of the cookie dough ice cream.

Ugh. Thanks for making a post that could have been really useful if it wasn't just a list of pinterest junk. Link to the recipes please, or have you forgotten that this is a cooking site, not just someplace to repin junk.

I tried that. It's not working for me. I get sent to a page that wants me to sign up for Pinterest. I don't do pinterest. I'll try going directly to the websites.
