Please Watch These Fruits and Vegetables Defrost Under a Super Macro Lens

January  5, 2017

Someone, anyone, please—hold me. I've fallen and I can't get up. I've just seen the most beautiful internet video.

What's that soft rumble? It's the sound of fruits, vegetables, and ice cream defrosting in a time-lapse in this eight-minute video released by Montreal-based video production company Stereokroma. Marvel at those icy casings melting against stark, black backgrounds.

The video is, quite plainly, the most gorgeous video I've seen in all year, five days old. (Stereokroma is also selling a calendar with select, hi-resolution images from the video. How's that for a way to ring in the new year?) It's hard to single out one moment, though if I had to pick, I'd go for the pomegranate defrosting at the 3:11 mark. Look at those vibrant seeds—like little jewels!

So soothing - fun to try and guess what each one is in the first few shots too

Beautiful! I could feel all my tense muscles relaxing as I watched this.

Super soothing. I need that playing on my TV 24/7 or something. The pomegranate was great but the broccoli was my absolute favourite (and I don't even really like broccoli!)

Actually, while some of it was pleasant, a lot of it was alarming to me. I could imagine many of those in disaster movies right before the big catastrophe strikes.

The colors are so intense! Loved the sound effects, too. Oddly soothing.
